South Korea will invest roughly four-point-two billion U.S. dollars to expand Incheon International Airport by 2024 to meet increasing demand.
The transport ministry says a groundbreaking ceremony will be held this afternoon.
Investments will be made gradually over the next five years to construct a fourth runway, expand Terminal 2 and build other facilities.
When construction is complete, the airport's capacity is expected to reach over 106 million passengers a year with each terminal able to manage over 50 million each.
Once complete, Incheon International Airport will be the third biggest airport by passenger capacity, following the international airports in Dubai and Istanbul.
