Court rules in favor of singer banned from S. Korea

The once-popular Korean singer, Steve Yoo, known as Yoo Seung-jun here in Korea, may be allowed to enter Korea for the first time in 17 years.
An appeals court ruled today that it was a violation of procedure to ban him from entering the country during that time.
Yoo caused public uproar after giving up his Korean citizenship for an American one in 2002, which critics thought was to avoid military service.
In 2015, he sued the South Korean consulate in Los Angeles for refusing him a visa a case he lost in the Seoul High Court.
That ruling was reversed today.
The High Court was ordered by the Supreme Court earlier this year to reconsider the case, saying Yoo should not be refused a visa just because there had been a decision to ban him in the past.
