Let's now go over to our Lee Jee-hyun at the weather center for more updates on Typhoon Mitag.
Jee-hyun, fill us in.
Good afternoon, the weakened typhoon is forecast to downgrade to a tropical depression by 9 PM this evening in the East Sea. So now, those in the east coast and the eastern-most islands of Dokdo and Ullengdo are feeling the impact of Mitag.
The eastern parts of the country including Gangneung in Gangwon-do Province and the eastern-most islands of Dokdo and Ullengdo are seeing heavy rain of 20 millimeters per hour. Expect to see more heavy showers until midnight, possibly up to 150 millimeters.
Typhoon warnings have been lifted in the mainland, but warnings still remain in place for Dokdo, Ullengdo and the East Sea. A high seas advisory is also in effect for parts of the South, West and East seas. Meanwhile, a hail watch has been issued in parts of Gangwon-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do provinces. So stay alert.
Lastly checking on today's highs, readings will be a couple of notches higher in most parts of the country on this National Foundation Day with a slim chance of sunshine.
That's all the weather updates for now.
