LODI, CALIFORNIA — A 28-year-old woman is sadly no longer around after a skydiving accident involving a big rig trailer on a busy Northern California highway.

According to California Highway Patrol, Maria Vallejo, of Colombia, was skydiving with a group of seven people last Thursday around 2 p.m.

Authorities say conditions were windy when the group took off from the Lodi Parachute Center at the Lodi Airport.
As the group was descending, Vallejo was unfortunately caught up in a large gust of wind.
A witness told KCRA, that a big gust of wind pushed Vallejo away from the landing zone, and sent her careening toward heavy traffic on California Highway 99 in Acampo.
The wind pushed Vallejo until she slammed into a big rig trailer that was driving down the highway.
After hitting the trailer, she bounced off and then crashed into the shoulder of the highway. CHP said she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the owner of the Lodi Parachute Center, Vallejo was an experienced skydiver with 155 jumps.
According to CNN, the CHP is now investigating the incident.
