U.S.-China trade talks to resume in 2 weeks: Mnuchin
  • 5 years ago
The U.S. and China will resume their high-level trade talks two weeks from now in Washington.
This is according to U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin in an interview Monday with Fox News,… in which he said the U.S. side will be led by trade representative Robert Lighthizer and the Chinese side by Vice Premier Liu He.
Mnuchin said he's hoping for a deal, but if the U.S. can't get the "right deal," it will continue to use tariffs strategically.
He also said the cancelation of a visit by Chinese officials to U.S. farms was requested by the U.S. to "avoid any confusion around the trade negotiations" and that the visit will take place soon.
He made it clear that the U.S. wants China to buy its farm goods,… which China has reportedly agreed to do.
