A thick haze, caused by fires to clear land for palm oil plantations, continued blanketing Tanjung Pinang city, Riau Islands in Indonesia on Wednesday (September 18).

The choking smog has enveloped parts of Southeast Asia in the past two weeks.

Haze from Sumatra Island caused maritime traffic to reduce speed due to low visibility.
