MANILA - Rehabilitation czar Panfilo Lacson said there is still a significant shortfall in shelter for survivors of Yolanda-hit areas, six months after the supertyphoon. He said just a little over 26,000 lots have been generated, a mere ten percent of the required 216,000 housing units. Without identifying them, Lacson blamed certain politicians and groups for the slow implementation of recovery plans. "We detest politicians and political groups who strive to put blinders in exploiting the vulnerability of victims of Yolanda," he said. "We appeal to them not to subdue their conscience while advancing their selfish political agenda at the expense of government and eventually the people along the Yolanda avenue." Lacson is proposing, among other things, the issuance of a presidential proclamation over lands under public domain for resettlement. ANC, May 7, 2014
