Singapore’s former top diplomat at the UN says the US-China trade war has moved beyond tariffs to evolve into a geopolitical contest. Kishore Mahbubani, Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Research Institute of the National University of Singapore told the South China Morning Post on September 3, 2019, that Washington appears to be trying to prevent Beijing from overtaking the US position as the world's largest economy.
