North Korea can reportedly now fire missiles with greater range and maneuverability that could threaten U.S. forces in the region.
That's according to the New York Times on Tuesday, citing U.S. intelligence officials and experts.
The paper stressed that the rapid improvement of the North's missile technology puts not only South Korea and Japan in more danger, but also threatens at least eight U.S. bases in these two countries, which house more than 30-thousand troops.
It added that the recent tests have showed that the North can launch solid-fuel missiles that fly in unpredictable paths, possibly defeating U.S. missile defense systems in the region namely land-based Patriot and ship-based Aegis.
But amid mounting concerns over the North's advancements in its arsenal, U.S. President Donald Trump has downplayed the regime's recent missile launches, describing them as "very standard".
