NBI chief resigns

MANILA - National Bureau of Investigation chief Nonnatus Rojas has submitted his irrevocable resignation to President Aquino, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima announced Monday. Rojas's resignation came after President Aquino said charges are being prepared against two NBI officials who had allegedly tipped off Janet Lim Napoles about the warrant of arrest issued against her last August 14th. While Rojas's resignation was irrevocable, de Lima said she will ask the President not to accept it. "Mas maganda siguro na yung mga deputy directors, sila dapat ang mag-isip na mag-offer, mag-tender ng courtesy resignation, 'wag si Dir. Noni. It goes to show he's very principled, na meron siyang delicadeza. Alam niya and I explained na hindi ikaw ang tinutukoy ng Pangulo and I can say I think that the President also has trust and confidence in him," she said. The NBI had been tracking down Napoles -- the alleged brains behind the ten billion peso pork barrel scam. But it wasn't informed about her surrender to President Aquino.
