U.S. President Donald Trump's apparent desire to buy Greenland first came as a surprise for Denmark,... and now it has turned to bewilderment and anger after the American leader abruptly scrapped a planned visit to the northern European country.
The Danish prime minister said she was surprised and disappointed that Trump called off his visit over Copenhagen's refusal to sell Greenland.
She previously said President Trump's Greenland proposal was "absurd",... publicly saying Greenland was not for sale.
Firing back, Trump told reporters Wednesday that the prime minister's statement was "nasty",… and said it's wrong to say such a thing to the United States.
Trump was scheduled to visit Copenhagen early next month.
