Hollywood Is Investing More On Adaptations and Sequels
  • 5 years ago
According to BoxOfficeMojo, there are currently
40 films in movie history which have generated
$1 billion or more at the box office. Just four of them - 'Avatar,' 'Titanic,' Frozen,'
and 'Zootopia' - are considered to be
in the original category. Thanks to established fan bases and less risk, studios are trending away from original movies. The plot and characters are also already locked in, making production easier. Movie history shows that most sequels and trilogies fail to capture the magic of the original flick. But everyone in the $1 billion category, namely Marvel movies, have beaten that trend by delivering quality film after quality film to audiences. Still, the rise of sequels and adaptations could
be forcing companies to put original films
on hold or not give them much attention. Original films like 'Frozen' and 'Zootopia' broke expectations with their revenue.
