Japan's Sankei Shimbun reported on Wednesday that the decision by Korean carriers including Korean Air to cut flights to Japan could hurt provincial tourism in Japan.
The newspaper attributed the decision to suspend some routes to Japan to lower demand due to the strained relationship between Seoul and Tokyo.
It said tour businesses in provincial areas would inevitably be affected by the change as more than 60 routes to Japan from South Korea will see reductions.
The Japan Tourism Agency said on Wednesday that about 560-thousand South Koreans visited Japan in July, down 7-point-6 percent on year.
