S. Korea, Japan to hold bilateral meeting in Beijing amid high tensions between two sides

The top diplomats of South Korea and Japan are set to sit down for talks on Wednesday,... as tensions remain high between the two Asian neighbors.
Seoul's Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha who is in Beijing,... will sit down with her Japanese counterpart Taro Kono to discuss pending issues facing the two countries.
Kang is expected to urge Tokyo to come to the negotiating table to resolve the ongoing trade tensions,... while raising Seoul's opposition to Japan's export controls on South Korea.
The meeting comes just days before the deadline for Seoul to decide whether to renew the information-sharing pact with Japan,... known as the General Security of Military Information Agreement.
Japan has already made it clear that it will not resume talks related to its export restrictions,... during director-level talks held on Tuesday.
