A handful of Hong Kong protesters waved US flags during a peaceful march before violent clashes broke out.
Some protesters also built barricades against the police, who later moved in to clear the streets of Tai Po. Fast-moving cat-and-mouse clashes then broke out.
It's the latest in two months of protests against the growing power of the mainland China government in Hong Kong.
