The president has revealed his nominees for some major spots in what will be his new-look cabinet.
The scope of the changes was wider than expected, with replacements in around ten areas.
As expected, the president named Cho Kuk to serve as the new Minister of Justice.
He was the former senior presidential secretary for civil affairs.
The Blue House says that, with his knowledge and experience in law and the presidential office,... Cho will help push ahead reforms of the prosecution and establish a fair and just legal system.
The new chairperson of the Fair Trade Commission will be Joh Sung-wook,... business professor at Seoul National University.
She's the first female nominee in the commission's 38 year history.
And the president's choice for the new Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission is Han Sang-hyuk.
He's currently a lawyer specializing in media-related issues and the co-representative of the Citizens' Coalition for Democratic Media.
Lee Soo-hyuck will take over as the new ambassador to the United States, replacing Ambassador Cho Yoon-je
The lawmaker previously worked at Korea's intelligence agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
There had been reports Moon Chung-in, special adviser to President Moon for foreign affairs and national security,... would fill the role.
But he reportedly turned it down.
The Blue House says that, as an expert in diplomacy,... Lee will contribute to furthering South Korea-U.S. relations and help resolve ongoing diplomatic issues.
The heads of the Financial Services Commission, science, agriculture, gender equality ministries, and Korea National Diplomatic Academy were also replaced.
This is the administration's first major reshuffle since March.
According to the top office's spokesperson, the shake-up was centered on stably pushing the president's policy goals forward.
She said this essentially completes the cabinet for President Moon's second phase in office.
The nominees still have to undergo parliamentary hearings before taking up their new posts.
