The United States wants its all its allies to contribute more to shared defense,… and South Korea is not an exception to the rule.
This according to U.S. State Department Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus on Thursday.
She said fairer burden sharing was one of President Trump's campaign pledges, adding it has been an issue Trump has been crystal clear on.
President Trump tweeted Wednesday that the allies have started negotiations to renew their defense cost-sharing deal and Seoul had agreed to pay a lot more.
However, South Korea denies the talks have started.
