India's Tiger Population Has
Increased to Nearly 3,000.
India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi,
recently announced that the country’s number
of tigers has grown by almost 600 since 2014.
Nine years ago, it was decided in St. Petersburg
(Russia) that the target of doubling the tiger
population would be 2022. We in India

national animal of India.
The nearly 3,000 tigers is a “historic

of protected areas in India reaching 860 in 2018. .
There were also a reported 100 community
reserves in 2018, which is a significant
increase from the 43 that existed in 2014. .

“biggest and safest habitats” for tigers in the world. .
