Wild tigers clashing with people as the animal population rises to nearly 3,000 in India

India released a census of its wild tiger population on July 29, 2019, reporting that 2,967 tigers live in the country, an increase of over 30 per cent compared to the 2014 census.  The tiger census, which takes 15 months, is completed every four years.  The latest survey started in 2018 and involved 26,000 camera traps which captured more than 350,000 images of the animals in the wild.
