The U.S. State Department says,.... it'll do (quote-unquote) "everything" it can.... to strengthen America's ties with South Korea and Japan and between the two countries themselves.
Spokesperson Morgan Ortagus said on Thursday that,... Washington's relationships with both South Korea and Japan are very important... and that countries all face shared regional challenges.
She said the State Department will work both publicly and privately... but declined to comment in detail about whether the U.S. has been contacting Japan directly about the export restrictions against South Korea.
Although Ortagus didn't respond to the question on whether the U.S. is considering three-way talks at next month's ASEAN meeting in Bangkok,... she did say, communication is happening on a daily basis
