Rain to clear, hot and humid 062719

The monsoon season has arrived in Korea, but even though we expected a downpour, the capital area just saw light sprinkles overnight... and now there's a brief break from the monsoon rain.
Our Lee Jeehyun is at Cheonggyecheon Stream in downtown Seoul for us.
Jee-Hyun, what can we expect today?

Good morning Mark. I was expecting to get absolutely soaked by heavy showers this morning during the outdoor report but instead it's just humid and warm this morning. Morning commuters in most areas didn't need rain gear. But I am sure it would be a different story if I were in the south of the country, especially Gyeongsang-do provinces, which saw heavy rainfall until this morning.

Most rain clouds have moved out farther east. Gyeongsang-do provinces and the surrounding regions, including Busan, are still seeing light rain but that will taper off by this afternoon. There aren't any heavy rain advisories in place for now.

However, we are looking at more showers in those areas. 5 to 30 millimeters are in store, parts of Gangwon-do and Jeollabuk-do Provinces will also see 5 millimeters or less through this afternoon.

Daily highs in Seoul will be 31 degrees Celsius, Daegu will have highs nearly 6 degrees higher than yesterday at 30 degrees.

Monsoon showers are set to return this Saturday dropping heavy showers on the southern parts of the country, expect muggy conditions for a while.

We are in monsoon season and could get unexpected showers anytime so make sure you have an umbrella handy.

With that, let's take a look at the international weather for viewers around the world.
