Two out of four North Korean fishermen, who were rescued from the East Sea over the weekend, say they want to defect to the South.
Seoul's unification ministry says the other two have been sent back home through the inter-Korean border village of Panmunjeom.
Seoul says it notified Pyeongyang of the fact through the joint liaison office Monday morning, and the North responded later in the day, though how it responded is not known.
The two North Koreans who wish to defect will go through the usual defection procedures, including a re-education process.
