South Korea's finance minister has said that it is time to start government-level discussions on raising the legal retirement age... to cope with the rapidly aging population.
Currently, the country's retirement age is 60.
Speaking to public broadcaster KBS on Sunday, minister Hong Nam-ki said the government will announce its stance on the issue within this month...after thoroughly discussing with the task force on population policies.
Minister Hong also touched on the minimum wage issue,... saying that the rate of the increase should be minimal in 2020.
In 2019, the minimum wage was raised by more than 10 percent.
