Hungarians pay tribute to victims of Danube boat accident

The tragedy not only left the South Korean victims and their families in sorrow,... but also the local residents as well.
In Budapest,... Hungarians and Koreans alike... expressed their condolences by attending commemorative events to share their grief.
Our Lee Ji-won has more.
Candles and flowers are being placed in front of the South Korean embassy in Budapest... as people pay tribute to the victims of Wednesday's boat accident,... most of whom are South Koreans.
At around 7 in the evening on Friday,... some 150 people gathered in front of the building,... with their faces grim and filled with sorrow.
They observed a moment of silence,... and some even shed a few tears.
According to the attendees,... the memorial gathering was voluntarily organized through a social media page,... where over 4-thousand Hungarians and Koreans have signed up... and are posting their own messages of prayers and condolences.
"I like Korea and Korean people and I feel so bad because of this accident."
"I just wanted to express my condolences and regret. I learned Korean, so I felt that the local Korean community might need some help."
But to some, regardless of their affinity for Korea,... the tragedy is heartbreaking nonetheless... as it's something that could have been avoided with extra caution.
"I think as many of the tragedies which happen today in the world, this is a tragedy which could have been avoided and it's basically because of human fault, a mistake."
With the search for the missing not expected to be easy,... prayers and tributes are expected to continue a while longer in Budapest and in Seoul.
