Seoul to give US$ 3.5 mil. to UNICEF from its humanitarian aid plan for N. Korea: VOA

Of the 8 million U.S. dollars in aid South Korea is planning to give to the North, UNICEF will reportedly be handling 3-and-a-half million of it,... or 44 percent.
Voice of America quoted UNICEF spokesperson Shima Islam... as saying Thursday that the UN agency welcomes what she called Seoul's generous donation.
The organization will use the funds to treat 4-hundred-50-thousand North Korean children under the age of five... suffering from diarrhea and pneumonia.
However, she did not disclose how the money is going to be divided or monitored.
The South Korean government said earlier this month.... that it will donate the 8 million dollars to the World Food Programme and UNICEF... for projects in North Korea to help with nutrition and the health of mothers and children.
