N. Korea's economy may be poorer, more volatile than before based on nocturnal luminosity: Report

North Korea may be poorer and more volatile than formerly thought.
A British daily made such an analysis based on night time satellite images which revealed that the North's annual GDP per person hovers around 14-hundred U.S. dollars.
That's well below South Korean estimate of over 2-thousand.
Citing the new study by World Data Lab, a private company based in Vienna,... The Times reported Sunday that nocturnal luminosity for the regime reduced by 40 percent from 2013 to 2015.
The report pointed to heatwaves and drought as the main reasons behind such a drop.
