Learn how simple it is to zest a lemon in this handy cookery video.
1 If adding lemon zest to a recipe for flavouring, use a fine grater.
2 Take care not to include the bitter pith just beneath the zest.
3 Use a lemon zester to remove outer zest for garnishes or decorations.
4 Use a vegetable peeler to make lemon zest strips.5 Start peeling at the stem end of lemon, cutting around lemon, working from one end to the other. Do not cut into the bitter pith layer. If some pith remains, use the tip of a knife to scrape the pith from the zest strip.
