Time now for our "Life & Info" segment,... where we focus on information useful for your everyday life.
Today we are going to talk about 'shared commercial kitchens' in South Korea...and how we can all get involved.
Our Ko Roon-hee is in the studio with us.
Roon-hee, start off by describing what a shared kitchen is...and tell us about some popular ones here in Korea.
Yes Mark.
'Shared kitchens' generally refer to facilities made for commercial food production... that are available to multiple users on an assigned schedule.
Users pay hourly or monthly to rent spaces for cooking... and all kitchen tools and equipment such as ovens are provided.
I went to check out one of the most popular ones in Korea.
WECOOK, a shared kitchen platform service provided for food and beverage businesses, was launched in 2015.
In this particular branch located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, there are around 1-hundred businesses sharing an 'open kitchen'.
There are small private kitchens as well...for businesses that want separate areas.
What I found most interesting was the price. It's really cheap.
You pay around 12-U.S. dollars per hour to use the shared kitchen...and of course it is even more affordable when you book monthly.

I had the opportunity to speak to the vice president of WECOOK, and a 'foodmaker'...which means a person using the shared kitchen.
"It's difficult to start or manage a restaurant business in Korea...because rent and wages have been rising. We want people to concentrate on cooking and WECOOK provides the infrastructure and platform they need."
"People who want to open their own restaurants can explore different menus and try many things out here. Also, they can receive feedback from various people."
I heard that shared kitchens are very popular in the United States so it's nice to see they are coming to Korea too. For our viewers who would like to give it a shot, what do they have to do?
Sure. So there are about 10 big or small shared kitchens businesses in Korea...and you can easily find them on the internet.
As a consumer, you might be interested in how you can eat the food or buy their products.
You can purchase food from shared kitchens' online websites...and they sell condiments or side dishes.
Purchasing food from shared kitchens' offline markets is also possible.
And to enjoy a fresh meal, you can visit shared kitchens in person and dine-in or order food from delivery applications.
If you want to be a cook or a business owner, visit the shared kitchens' websites...and apply to be a member.
The application process varies, but in general it's not that complicated.
'Shared kitchens aren't just about cooking and selling food. Many platforms also support companies through branding or marketing,… so they can reach more potential customers.
I visited another shared kitchen called 'MONTHLY KITCHEN'...which mainly r
