South Korea's exports to China last year increased by more than those to any other country by a whopping 14 percent on-year to nearly 162 billion U.S. dollars.
Statistics Korea attributed the jump to an improvement of ties with China after the THAAD missile defense dispute in 2017, which prompted retaliation from Beijing.
China's demand for memory chips and petrochemical goods grew sharply last year.
Korea's overall exports in 2018 came to more than 602 billion dollars, with Southeast Asia being the number one export destination at 28 percent of the total, followed by China at 27 percent.
