South Korea's Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki has urged parliament to endorse the government-led budget plan aimed at reviving the economy and tackling air pollution.
Chairing a weekly Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, Hong cited growing uncertainty in the global financial market.
He added the longer it takes for the budget to get passed, the longer it will take for the local economy to recover, especially for those who are suffering from the aftermath of deadly fires that hit parts of the country.
The minister said the parliament's extraordinary session comes to an end Tuesday, but the date for the budget approval worth 5-point-8 billion U.S. dollars is yet to be decided.
