Julian Assange sentenced to 50 weeks in prison in UK, still facing U.S. charges

A British court has sentenced WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to 50 weeks in prison,... after jumping bail and taking refuge in Ecuador's Embassy in London, seven years ago.
However, the United States is still seeking the 47-year-old's extradition for prosecution there,... as officials have left open the possibility that he could face criminal charges in the U.S., as well.
Assange is facing a charge of conspiracy to hack into a Pentagon computer network,... which he has denied.
Assange was arrested on April 11th,... after the Ecuadorean government decided to withdraw its protection,... and allowed British police to remove him from the embassy in London.
