Political newcomer Volodymyr Zelensky celebrates victory in Ukraine's presidential elections

A television comedian has won Ukraine's presidential runoff vote, defeating incumbent President Petro Poroshenko.

Well Connyoung, Volodymyr Zelensky scored a landslide winning 73-point-2 percent of votes compared to Poroshenko's 25-point-3 percent.
Shortly after the first exit poll, Poroshenko conceded defeat,... saying he would help the new president prepare for the role between the official announcement of the election results and his inauguration.
Poroshenko's support had crumbled as his government failed to tackle endemic corruption in the country.
Zelensky's participation in the presidential election was initially considered a joke as he was a comedian who became famous for playing a down-and-out schoolteacher that unexpectedly becomes President of Ukraine after becoming famous for an anti-corruption rant that went viral on social media.
Watchers say Ukrainians have had enough of corrupt mainstream politicians and Zelensky projected the image of a new era of politics that would fight against corruption and oligarchy.
Delivering his victory speech, Zelensky promised not to "mess up" on the challenges he had been given,... but again, failed to offer clarity about the future direction of his presidency.
