S. Korea's presidential security official stresses importance of 'top-down' approach
  • 5 years ago
A high-ranking South Korean official is in Washington for talks with U.S. officials ahead of the next summit between Presidents Moon Jae-in and Donald Trump
That's the second deputy chief of Seoul's National Security Office, Kim Hyun-chong.
And he says... it's important that diplomacy between North Korea and the U.S.... continues to be conducted by their leaders.
Kim was speaking to reporters as he arrived at the airport in Washington on Saturday.
He said that the peace-building process so far has been conducted through this so-called "top down" approach.
The talks should continue, he said, and South Korea should be included.
Kim is expected to meet with his counterparts on Monday to discuss the Moon-Trump summit set for April 11th.
