N. Korea and U.S. will not backslide despite no-deal Hanoi summit: Senior Blue House official
  • 5 years ago
We start at South Korea's Blue House,... where a high-ranking official says there will be "no turning back" in relations between North Korea and the U.S.
Speaking on the condition of anynomity,... the official said despite the Hanoi summit last month ending without a deal,... the two sides won't move backwards... given the progress they've made over the past year.
Both Pyeongyang and Washington, the official noted, have continuously expressed a desire to continue their negotiations and diplomacy.
Another point was that North Korea's vice foreign minister Choe Sun-hui, in her remarks, did not rule out the talks resuming... and there's President Trump saying they need to continue.
The official added that perhaps the time is approaching for another summit between the two Koreas -- and that the top office will go over the possible options.
