외교부 “실질 비핵화 진전..항구적 평화체제 구축”

Seoul's foreign ministry announced its main goals for this year.
At the core is enhancing diplomatic efforts to push for denuclearization and peace on the Peninsula.
Park Hee-jun sheds light on their action plan 2019. Seoul's foreign ministry says it will take the leading role in maintaining nuclear dialogue,... based on North Korea and the United States' trust in South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
Revealing its action plan for 2019 on Wednesday, the ministry said it plans to work for tangible progress on the North's denuclearization and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula,... through close coordination with the U.S. and the international community.
A ministry official told reporters that the government will also ramp up its diplomacy so that these efforts lead to improved inter-Korean relations.
And although no agreement was reached by Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump in Vietnam,... the ministry says it anticipates huge advancements through the post-Hanoi negotiations and Kim's reciprocal visit to Seoul.
The ministry also plans to negotiate more closely with neighboring countries.
Addressing the frosty bilateral relations with Japan,... that sprang from disputes over wartime forced labor and sexual slavery,... the ministry said it will work toward developing ties that look toward the future.
Although Tokyo is reportedly reviewing economic retaliation over those disputes,... the ministry official said the South Korean government hasn't been notified of any such action.
He also emphasized that Seoul will stick to a dual approach,... so that historical disputes don't affect negotiations on other policies.
