대담: 문 대통령 신남방정책 세일즈 외교 돌입

And for more, we have Professor Shin Sang-hyup,... from Kyung Hee University joining me in the studio today.
Welcome.
Q1 The president's trip comes at a time after the Hanoi summit fell through. It appears that the political and economic importance of Southeast Asia will become greater. How do you see the president's choice of countries for his first overseas trip of the year?
Q2 The president's overseas trip will be an opportunity to accelerate the New Southern Policy and diversify Korea's trade market and network of global production that's been concentrated in the U.S. and China."
For our international viewers who may be unfamiliar with the New Southern Policy,... could you tell us the core of it?
Q3 The first leg of President Moon's trip takes him to Brunei. Now, this year marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the country and South Korea. Brunei also serves as the coordinator for South Korea-ASEAN dialogue. The two sides agreed Monday to expand cooperation and partnership. What does that entail?
Q4 Now, after he wraps up his trip to Brunei,... President Moon will head to Malaysia -- which Seoul has had diplomatic relations with for almost 60 years. Malaysia is also one of the biggest consumers of Hallyu content. Here President Moon will sit down for a summit with the king and prime minister. What sort of economic cooperation measures do you think the two sides will ink?
Q5 And last but not least, the final leg of the three-nation tour will take the president to Cambodia. The country has seen its economy grow more than seven percent a year during the past two decades. It's been considered a popular tourist destination and attractive investment spot among South Koreans. What sort of economic advantages does Cambodia have?
Q6 Through the president's New Southern Policy,... the country is seeking to diversify its export markets that are heavily reliant on China and the U.S. at the moment.
Bilateral trade between South Korea and ASEAN reached a record high of 160 billion U.S. dollars last year,... and Seoul seeks to expand the amount to 200 billion dollars by 2020 under its New Southern Policy.
It must make this trip extra important. What's your take?
Q7 Now later this year,... Seoul will be hosting a special summit with the heads of state of all 10 ASEAN countries. The special summit to be held in South Korea will also mark the 30th anniversary of the start of South Korea-ASEAN dialogue. It will likely be a pivotal moment for the president to promote his new southern policy. What do you think are the main tasks ahead?
Q8 President Moon is also expected to continue to ask for support for Seoul's efforts to establish permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula. He has stressed the importance of ASEAN countries in ridding North Korea of its nuclear ambitions, noting the 10 members all have diplomatic relations with Pyeongyang. Do you expect a message regarding that?
Thank you for your insights.
