More people are buying masks and air purifiers due to the air pollution in Korea.
But there are other special products that are popular with customers looking to cope with the fine dust.
Lee Min-sun introduces to us some of these items.
This local tour agency has recently been getting floods of inquiries... because of the fine dust.
"Yes, so many people are considering going to a place with clear air like Switzerland because of fine dust."
As Korea suffocates under the fine dust, some are making a luxurious escape to clean and unpolluted places, even for a few days.
"Because of the worsening fine dust, more customers are asking to travel somewhere where they can breathe cleaner air. We usually recommend Switzerland. We will start special promotions next week focused on escaping the fine dust.”
But not everyone can leave the country, so many people are looking for other ways to get some fresh air. Sales of air purifiers went up 300 percent during the first week of March compared to the same period last year, according to a local retail chain.
"Other home appliances are also flying off the shelves amid the worsening air quality... including this device that shakes off the dust off clothes."
This device shakes the clothes up to 200 times per minute and removes the fine dust from items that cannot be washed every day. Sales of the device jumped 120 percent year-on-year during the first week of March when the fine dust level was at its worst.
Laundry dryers are also popular as more people are choosing to use the dryer instead of putting their laundry outside.
People are also making smaller purchases like cosmetic products specifically designed to wipe off fine dust from their face, body, and hair.
But as none of these measures can fully prevent people from breathing in fine dust, so one insurance company is offering special policies that provide cover against fine dust-related diseases.
The fine dust insurance, released last month, covers six diseases including respiratory, eye and heart diseases.
