Global smartphone shipments fell for the first time last year on the back of a saturated market and a lack of innovative devices.
According to market research firm Strategy Analytics on Tuesday,… smartphone vendors shipped a total of 1-point-43 billion units worldwide in 2018, down 5-point-1 percent compare to the previous year.
Global shipments decreased 2-point-6 percent on-year in the first half of last year and fell significantly to 7-point-3 percent in the second half,... posing challenges to smartphone vendors in search of new growth engines.
North America posted the biggest decline of 13-point-2 percent, followed by Western Europe with a 6-point-3 percent drop over the period.
