53 per cent of India's fast track courts closed

Before 2014 elections, the BJP made tall promises about ushering in big ticket judicial reforms. After coming to power, one year on, forget any reform, RTI filed by an activist has revealed that around 53% of fast track courts, which were set up in the last 15 years have been closed down. The reason once agaim is lack of funds & lack of intent. The RTI also reveals that central government has shifted onus on building fast track courts to state governments & PMO has not issued any order regarding setting up of fast track courts. There are only 815 fast track courts in India with the number of pending cases pegged at a whopping 3.3 crores. The question is, was fast track court promise a poll slogan?
