Muzaffarnagar riots: ADG Arun Kumar seeks transfer from UP, goes on long leave

Lucknow: Amidst tensions over the blame game and arrest warrants against MLAs in the Muzaffarnagar riots, Uttar Pradesh's Additional Director General Police (Law& order) Arun Kumar has gone on leave. Kumar was in-charge of law and order in Muzaffarnagar after violence erupted in the district.The IPS officer is out of Uttar Pradesh and there is no information about him resuming duty any time soon. It is possible that he has gone owing to the political pressure on him. As per sources, Kumar was not getting a free-hand to work on this case therefore he decided to go on leave. Kumar had already expressed his wish to move to the central services three months back and had even sent a reminded to the Uttar Pradesh government regarding the same.
