Delhi gangrape: Govt not for special parliament session - NewsX

As the chorus for justice for the 23-year-old gangrape victim gets louder, the need to call a special session of Parliament to amend the entire gamut of law on crimes against women is also getting louder. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, who was initially vociferous in her demand for convening a special session of the Parliament, has now become conspicuously silent on the issue.
Similar demands by BSP, TMC and Left parties has also failed to cut ice with the Government ruling out the need to hold a special session of Parliament. This has only made one wonder as to whether politicians who sound apologetic and subdued over the braveheart's death are really sincere about what they say.
