US elections: Obama, Romney locked in tight race - NewsX
  • 5 years ago
President Barack Obama and Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney are in a tight race as early results show several key states remain very close. Romney's path to victory narrowed slightly as NBC News declared Obama the projected winner in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, two states the GOP nominee had contested in a bid to expand his Electoral College map. Romney had campaigned in both states extensively in the final week of the campaign, which Republicans argued was a sign of strength. The battleground states of Virginia, Ohio, North Carolina, Florida, New Hampshire, and Colorado -- each of which were considered toss-up states entering Election Day -- remained too close to call, according to NBC News. Those states alone accounted for 88 electoral votes in the race to the 270 electoral votes needed to win the White House.
