BJP's Narendra Modi to meet president to form India government

India's PM-elect Narendra Modi is due to meet the president to formally claim his right to form the government after his BJP won a landslide victory in the general election. The BJP's 282 MPs elected Mr Modi as the leader of the parliamentary party at a meeting on Tuesday.

Mr Modi has been holding a series of meetings to finalise his cabinet. The BJP won a landslide majority in parliament and will be able to govern without coalition partners.
