S. Korea and India to strengthen 'special strategic partnership' through concrete measures

We've just been watching a press conference between President Moon Jae-in and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi happening at the top office.
And for more on this.... let's now turn to our Blue House correspondent Hwang Hojun, who's on the line for us.
Hojun, can you give us a recap of what the leaders had to say?

Jiyoon, we can divide the agreement into three categories.
Promoting human exchanges, boosting economic cooperation, and pursuing peace and prosperity in the region.
Let's break it down and take a look at some of the highlights.
The first thing mentioned was the promotion of human and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
What stood out the most was the new visa system each country will implement.
The Indian government has decided to extend the period of stay for South Korean citizens in India up to three years from the current twelve months.
Seoul, on the other hand, is looking to open a new collective tourist visa program for Indian nationals.
Now onto economic cooperation.
Highly evaluating that South Korea and India's trade volume reached an all-time high of 21.5 billion U.S. dollars last year,... the leaders agreed to continue to boost bilateral economic cooperation,... with the goal to achieve 50 billion dollars-worth of trade volume by 2030.
To that end, they will work to conclude the Korea-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership negotiations ASAP and improve the trade environment through efforts such as mitigating import regulations.
We can also expect more cooperation in fields related to the 4th industrial revolution, green energy, and even the space industry, while also promoting exchanges between each other's startups.
Last but not least, President Moon and Prime Minister Modi pledged to work closely to establish peace and prosperity in the region, not just the Korean Peninsula.
Prime Minister Modi expressed his support for the Moon administration's efforts to establish lasting peace, while seeking the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
They also decided to further promote strategic exchanges and cooperation in national defense and the defense industry sector, while also reinforcing joint efforts to cope with transnational crimes such as terrorism.
Today's bilateral summit lasted a little over an hour,... and took place after an official welcoming ceremony.
And as we speak, President Moon is hosting a state luncheon in honor of Prime Minister Modi, the first world leader to make a state visit to South Korea since the turn of the year.
Jiyoon.
