The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces say they began an assault Saturday on the last Islamic State enclave in Syria,... in the eastern provice of Deir al-Zor.
The SDF says it has evacuated more than 20-thousand civilians from the area of operations over the past ten days.
The group's spokesperson told the AFP that it expects the operations to end in a few days.
This supports U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks made Wednesday that the U.S. coalition against IS could announce as soon as next week that it's reclaimed all territory held by the jihadist group.
