Here’s what experts make of pre-poll alliances ahead of 2019 general elections

Just two days after Mamata Banerjee and leaders from more than 20 opposition parties vowed to oust Narendra Modi in the general elections, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has hit out at the Mahagathbandhan in his blog - Agenda for 2019 Modi vs chaos. He also asked whether 2019 will be a replica of 1971 when the Congress split and the opposition formed a grand coalition, despite which Indira Gandhi led Congress won with a majority. He said negativism, an anti Modi mindset and caste coalitions will not win the opposition an election. CNBC-TV18 caught up with experts to discuss pre-poll alliances and the war of words.
