M&A deals in global semiconductor industry decline 17.4% y/y in 2018: Report
  • 5 years ago
It has emerged that merger and acquisition deals in the global semiconductor industry have been falling sharply over the past three years.
According to a report by IT market researcher, IC Insights, the total volume of M&A deals last year was 23 billion U.S. dollars, down almost 17-and-a-half percent from the previous year.
M&A volume peaked in 2015, when it was almost 200 billion dollars
The market researcher said only a small number of deals were done last year, and no "mega-deals"... worth more than ten-billion dollars... were signed.
The report noted it's unclear whether sluggish growth in semiconductor market was to blame for the fall in M&As.
