Former PM Hwang Kyo-ahn joins main opposition Liberty Korea Party

Former prime minister and potential presidential candidate Hwang Kyo-ahn.... has joined the main opposition Liberty Korea Party.
At a press conference this morning,... Hwang vowed all efforts to regain people's trust in the party,... while emphasizing the importance of harmony and unity within the conservatives.
He added that together with the party,.... he will focus on revitalizing the economy and put the brakes on government policies that are impeding growth.
However, when asked about whether he was planning to run for the party's leadership next month,... he only said that he will first talk to party members and the public.
Hwang, who served as acting president when former President Park Geun-hye was suspended from office between late 2016 and May of 2017,... is the preferred opposition candidate for the 2022 presidential elections, according to polls.
But there are concerns that he could taint the party's image given that he played a major role in the Park administration,... while he also faces the task of expanding his support-base beyond the pro-Park faction within the party.
