Maduro sworn in for second term as Venezuela's president

Nicolas Maduro has been sworn in for a second six-year term as Venezuela's president.
The ceremony was boycotted by most of the world's democratic nations - which regard Maduro as a dictator… heading up an illegitimate government.
For an expert's take on the issue,... we are going to connect via Skype to Fernando (How-ray-he) Jauregui in Caracas. He is a journalist who has worked with CNN and other international news outlets.

Fernado, there are claims Maduro won a manufactured election in which most political opponents were barred from running and which the Venezuelan people were either coerced into voting or simply did not vote. From what you've been seeing, would you say that's a fair assessment?

Do you think the current economic situation in Venezuela - the economy is in freefall, inflation is astronomical --can continue on much longer the way it is going?

Before, we let you go, can you tell us what life is like for most people in Venezuela these days?

Fernando Jauregui in Caracas. Thanks for you insights. Astonishing what is happening over there and hopefully you've opened many people's eyes to the situation in Venezuela. Stay safe and thank you for joining us.
