외교안보 총출동...김정은 방중' 2차 북미회담 논의에 초점?

Staying with Kim's trip to China.
Many experts believe the latest one is a little different from past visits.
Mainly because the North Korean leader seems to be there to actually hash out the specifics of the second Pyeongyang-Washington summit.
Here's Kim Mok-yeon with an in-depth analysis.
At the third summit between Kim Jong-un and Chinese President Xi Jinping, which was held right after the North Korean leader's talks with President Trump in June, Kim's entire entourage of top regime officials accompanied him during his stay.
"China's President Xi Jinping has just greeted top officials from our Workers' Party of Korea."
This latest time around, the size of Kim's entourage seems to have been scaled down.
Aside from his wife Ri Sol-ju, Kim Yong-chol, the Vice Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea who doubles as the regime's chief nuclear negotiator with the U.S., the top official covering diplomatic affairs Ri Su-yong and Foreign Minister Ri Yong-ho are among the handful of top ranking officials with Kim.
They also accompanied him during Kim's past three visits to China.
Some others that have traveled are Defense Minister No Kwang-chol, the Vice Chairman for the party's Science and Education sector Pak Thae-song and Kim Jong-un's sister,... Kim Yo-jong.
An expert says this delegation consists of senior personnel related to foreign affairs and defense, which could signal the North Korean leader's discussions with President Xi will focus on denuclearization and the upcoming Pyeongyang-Washington summit.
"I think Kim Jong-un felt the need to speak with President Xi ahead of his summit with President Trump. He wants to prepare for any unexpected demands from the U.S., such as a nuclear freeze or the abandonment of long-range missiles."
With this latest visit to Beijing, speculation is high that a second Kim-Trump summit is just around the corner.
But with both sides still far apart on numerous issues,... all eyes are on which negotiating card the North Korean leader will attempt to pull during his talks with President Trump.
